The Issachar Anointing and the Last DaysThe Issachar Anointing and the Last Days

KIB Episode 24

With all of the talk about the Blood Moon Prophecies, Shemitah Years, and the possible return of Messiah in 2015, what should be the response by the Body of Christ?  Dr. Michael Lake discusses these topics and the proper biblical response in a Yeshiva (Hebraic Round Table discussion) held at Great Harvest Church in Arkansas.  This lively discussion is both comprehensive and thought-provoking.

The Issachar Anointing and the Last Days
Yeshiva, Pocahontas, AR | 09/27/14

1 Chronicles 12:32 (KJV)
32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

There is so much to sort through prophetically in our day.

• Four blood moons and a complete solar eclipse all falling on biblical days over the next two years.

• We just began a Shemitah year that will be followed by a Year of Jubilee by Rabbinical (and historical) reckoning.

• ISIS in on the rise in the Middle East and is part of the desire of many Muslims to create World War III to bring the appearing of their Messiah. Muslims are beginning to behead those that will not convert is Western countries.

• Our government is giving Islam favored status, while beginning the persecution on Christian beliefs.

Lately I have seen several reactions for many in the Body of Christ:

• Indifference – Who Cares!
• Fear – Time to Build a Bunker and Hunker Down
• Urgency – In their own personal preparation in the Word and getting serious about being self-sufficient from the currently Babylonian system.

I. There have many predictions of Christ’s Return over the past two millennia

AD 51  |  Thessalonians believed that Jesus would come back shortly. Sold all they had and wandered the hills of the area wearing white.

AD 500  |  Hippolytus of Rome, Sextus Julius Africanus, Irenaeus All three predicted Jesus would return in the year 500. One prediction was based on the dimensions of Noah’s ark.

1000 Jan 1  |  Pope Sylvester II The Millennium Apocalypse at the end of the Christian Millennium. Various Christian clerics predicted the end of the world on this date. Following the failure of the January 1, 1000 prediction, some theorists proposed that the end would occur 1000 years after Jesus’ death (1033), instead of his birth.

1836  |  John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church, foresaw the Millennium beginning this year. He wrote that Revelation 12:14 referred to the years 1058–1836, “when Christ should come”.

1988  |  Edgar C. Whisenant.  Published a book “88 Reasons Why The Rapture Will Be in 1988.

1999 to 2009  |  Jerry Falwell, Fundamentalist preacher who predicted in 1999 that the Second Coming would probably be within 10 years.

2000 |   Ed Dobson.  This pastor predicted the end would occur in his book The End: Why Jesus Could Return by A.D. 2000.

2000  |  Sir Isaac Newton Newton predicted that Christ’s Millennium would begin in the year 2000 in his book Observations upon the Prophecies of Daniel, and the Apocalypse of St. John.

2012  | Jack Van Impe Televangelist who has, over the years, predicted many specific years and dates for the second coming of Jesus, but has continued to move his prediction later. Many of these dates have already passed, and he recently pointed to 2012 as a possible date for the second coming. Van Impe no longer claims to know the exact date of the Second Coming, but quotes verses which imply that mankind should know when the second coming is near.

2015  | Mark Blitz Starting in 2008, Mark Biltz began teaching that Christ’s return would correspond with the September 28, 2015 lunar eclipse. His idea, known as the Blood Moon Prophecy, attracted attention from well-known pastor John Hagee (who stopped short of claiming Christ would return on that precise date) and mainstream media such a USA Today.

With so many voices and so many signs, what is a believer to do these days? Should be begin building bunkers and hunker down? Should we sell everything we have and wander around the hills of the Ozarks in white robes waiting for the rapture (similar to those in Thessalonica)? How do we move in the anointing of the children of Issachar in 2014?

II. What We Can Do

1. Look for His Coming

1 John 3:1-3 (KJV)
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Adam Clarke:
And ever man that hath this hope in him—All who have the hope of seeing Christ as he is; that is, of enjoying him in his own glory; purifieth himself—abstains from all evil, and keeps himself from all that is in the world, viz., the lusts of the flesh, of the eye, and the pride of life … imploring God for the sanctifying Spirit, to “cleanse the thoughts of his heart by its inspiration, that he may perfectly love him, and worthily magnify his name.”

We have to live in such a way that each day we are ready to stand before Him at His coming.

2. To Be Awake Spiritually

Romans 13:11-14 (KJV)
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Complete Biblical Library:
The imminence of the Lord’s return was a message used by the apostles to urge people to live holy lives. Considering the nearness of eternity, Christians should fulfill every duty. Paul emphasized the need for believers to do everything in the light of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of eternity. He underscored the tendency to slumber and sleep. To “sleep” indicates unconcern. Being “awake” implies spiritual readiness. The reference is to salvation as the consummation of God’s final redemptive act.

Jamson, Fausset, and Brown:

To awake out of sleep—of stupid, fatal indifference to eternal things.

We need to learn what it means biblically to “cast off works of darkness” and to “put on Christ.” In an age of do nothing theology of hyper-grace, Paul calls the believer to action!

3. Live in Spiritual and Physical Preparedness

Proverbs 6:6-11 (KJV)
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. 9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

I like what the late Dr. Walter Martin said when asked about the timing of the Lord’s return (i.e. whether it was pre-trib, mid-trib, or post-trib). He said:

“I pray for Pre, and prepare for post.”

The truth is that we are looking through a glass darkly. Even if the pre-tribulation rapture theory is correct, it does not mean that we will not go through some hard times before He returns. These hard times have happened so many time since His first coming.

There was a time in America that everyone was a prepper. Households used to have their own small religious libraries and stocks of food. We have become too dependent upon a Babylonian system rather than dependent upon Christ and taking the spirituality and physical preparedness of each household seriously. In times of emergency, knowing how to pray and hear God PLUS having supplies to take care of your families (and perhaps neighbors) is essential.

4. Become Solid and Entrenched in What You Believe and Why

1 Peter 3:15 (AMP)
15 But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy [and acknowledge Him] as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully.

Too many believers are reacting in anger when confronted about what they believe and why. The truth is, the anger rises when they don’t know and can’t give an answer. This needs to change:

2 Timothy 2:15 (AMP)
15 Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.
